05 / Why Now

Three catalysts. One window.

i.
The bottleneck moved.
Reaching orbit used to be the hard part. Now it’s cheap and routine. The constraint has moved downstream, to moving and operating once you’re already there.
ii.
Orbit got crowded.
The number of satellites launched each year keeps climbing. Collision avoidance, slot keeping, and end-of-life disposal are now constant jobs, and the fuel a satellite launches with can’t cover it all.
iii.
Defense demand is rising.
Space is a contested domain. Defense needs assets that maneuver, respond in hours, and keep operating under attack. That capability has to live on orbit, not rush to launch when needed.
